Description

Stoke on Trent City Council is seeking to recruit independent panel members for their Fostering Panel. Applicants should have experience either professionally or personally, or both, in the placement of children in foster families, or of children being cared for away from their birth family. Your experience may include work in; education, health, or social care, or as a foster carer, or personal experience as a child or young person of being looked after by a Local Authority.

It is important to us that our panel members are recruited from a variety of different backgrounds and experiences in order to help us ensure that we are making good decisions in relation to our foster carers who care for the children and young people. We therefore welcome applicants from a range of diverse and minority backgrounds.

Panel members are self-employed and we operate a weekly panel every Tuesday, which is currently virtual, with the occasional office-based panel in Stoke on Trent. Panel members are not expected to attend every panel, and there is flexibility dependent upon your availability.

Stoke on Trent City Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we require all our panel members to share this ethos and commitment. On that basis successful applicants willbe subject to various checks, including a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Check) and appropriate references to ensure that you are a suitable person to carry out this role.

This position is paid on a sessional basis at £150 per panel.
