This advert is open to both Internal and External applicants.
We have a vacancy for a permanent full time Environmental
Health Officer within Public Protection (Environmental Health & Trading
Standards) working flexible hours to suit business needs, usually Monday to
Friday, based at the Civic Centre, Glebe Street, Stoke, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 1HH
with provisions for remote/home working.
Ideally starting as soon as possible, this is an exciting
opportunity to join a busy team in a Unitary Authority, handling a wide range
of environmental protection and pollution control functions, making a
difference to everyone who lives in, works in and visits Stoke-on-Trent.
Reporting to the Environmental Health Manager, and working
within a friendly and experienced team, you will be responsible for undertaking
investigations and inspections, managing a proactive and reactive workload,
responding to statutory consultee requests and providing advice and support relating
to environmental protection, pollution control and permitting duties.
You should possess a relevant degree, diploma or equivalent
qualification in Environmental Health.
Evidence of relevant experience, continuous professional
development, knowledge of current legislation and processes relating to
environmental protection is desirable, but applications from newly
qualified environmental health officers, with a preference for pollution, will
be considered.
You will be expected to have effective communication and
customer service skills, plus the ability to manage your own time and workload
in order to meet service response targets and consultation deadlines, demonstrating
a commitment to continually deliver high standards.
Preferably, you will hold a full driving licence and have access to the use of a vehicle for work.
Salary will be Level 11 and leave entitlement will be
calculated in line with corporate policy and relevant time worked within local
government.
