It is an exciting time for Stoke-on-Trent’s
children's advice & duty service who have been operating their single front
door for over a year and have continued to go from strength to strength in
their improvement journey. The service
manager role is a fixed term 12 month opportunity and reports directly to the
strategic manager for ChAD and EDT. You
will receive good quality supervision and oversight and be encouraged to work
autonomously and creatively in this new post.
The team is a vital part of Stoke on Trent
children’s services, where we provide support to the most vulnerable cohort of
children and families and as such we need a service manager who can work
restoratively and work with families and partner agencies to help them to find
their own solutions and provide safeguarding responses where required.
This is a unique opportunity for a manager with
substantial experience of supervision of staff, managing change and leadership
skills. We require strong leaders who are able to make sound decision making,
provide good quality oversight and mentoring to colleagues and who is creative
and innovative in their approach. If you
are an experienced team manager who is enthusiastic, passionate and embraces
change then we would welcome you to join us on our change journey.
Our vision is to make sure that we provide the
right services to children and families at the right time and we can achieve
this by continuously striving for improvement and welcoming a learning and
development culture, which you will be integral in maintaining.
The Children’s advice & duty service (ChAD)
responds to concerns through conversations, which is an evidence-based approach
and we value the collaborative approach to meeting children's needs which we
have developed with partner agencies.
This is a real opportunity for you to develop and
progress in your role where you will work closely with the strategic manager
and have ample opportunities to be involved in the change journey and
implementing new ways of working.
We need an experienced and resilient manager to
join the team, who can both work collaboratively with other services and take
personal responsibility for their work and operate on their own initiative, who
actively relishes taking on new challenges and broadening your skills.
This service manager will lead and oversee the
daily operational functions of ChAD having supervisory responsibility for the 3
social work managers. Ultimately, you
will ensure that children and families are receiving the right support at the
right time. This role is a 37-hour working week to be worked flexibly in line
with the needs of the service.
To be considered for a position you must have a
degree in Social Work or equivalent, be registered with Social Work England and
be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the post.
We are committed to safeguarding and
promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we
expect all our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. This position is exempt under the
Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be
subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service
(DBS).
Please note that if an employee who is
currently at risk of redundancy within the organisation applies for this
vacancy their application will receive priority. If this happens you will
be advised accordingly.
