We have a number of posts available.
It is an exciting time for Stoke-on- Trent’s Children’s Services where innovation and creative practice is being celebrated and encouraged. We want to provide the best service to our partner agencies, as well as to children and families, through a high functioning front door.
The new ‘Front Door’ of our service – the Children’s Advice & Duty service (ChAD) responds to concerns through conversations. This new way of receiving contacts and referrals we hope will provide opportunities for professionals to have meaningful discussion with our staff that result in interventions at the right time by the right service. This evidence-based approach will lead to fewer referrals and in turn fewer children requiring unnecessary assessments that do not lead to the provision of support services.
Stoke on Trent Emergency Duty Team, is a vital part of this
service and operates at weekends and out of hours when people can sometimes be
at their most vulnerable.
We need an experienced and resilient Social Worker to join the team, who
can both work collaboratively with other services and take personal
responsibility for their work and operate on their own initiative. We’re
looking for people who have a genuine interest in relationship-based practice
and a strengths-based approach to building effective relationships with
children, families, communities and partner agencies. These ways of working are
being embedded through our Restorative Practice Approach that is being rolled
out across Children’s Services.
We require a highly experienced practitioner with a background in either
safeguarding children and young people or vulnerable adults; who actively
relishes taking on new challenges and broadening your skills. If you have a
particular interest in undertaking your AMHP training this is something we can
support you with.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children,
young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all our employees and
volunteers to share this commitment. This position is exempt under the
Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be
subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service
(DBS).
Please note that if an employee who is currently at risk of redundancy within
the organisation applies for this vacancy their application will receive
priority. If this happens you will be advised accordingly.
