An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic professional to join our Governance Team in a unique and rewarding role which supports the Stoke-on-Trent Health and Wellbeing Board and our overview and scrutiny function. The role brings together policy development, partnership coordination, effective governance and scrutiny support to provide the post holder with a varied and impactful workload.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the Directorate of Public Health, Protection and Wellbeing in the delivery of projects, as well as across all directorates to deliver effective support in the strategic planning and coordination of the Health and Wellbeing Board, based on robust policy development and a strong framework for performance measuring and reporting against priorities. In the scrutiny support function, the post holder will take a lead role in supporting scrutiny activity relating to health and social care across both adult and children’s services which will include organising and supporting reviews, preparing reports and providing expert advice to elected members.
The role requires the ability to build strong working relationships with partners across local government, the NHS, the voluntary sector and wider stakeholders and the successful candidate will have some experience in a public health, governance or scrutiny related environment role with a clear understanding of the role of health and wellbeing boards and effective health scrutiny. The post requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and professional approach to support in navigating political and multi-agency environments. Strong analytical and research skills will also be essential to interpret complex information and key evidence.
Given the multifaceted nature of the role, you will be required to manage several workstreams and priorities and must be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a flexible approach and be willing to support multiple meetings to contribute to the council’s governance function. Enthusiasm and a solution focused attitude will be key.
