This is a permanent position.


Fleet Operations & Compliance is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our unique and dynamic team of highly motivated professionals who work collaboratively to ensure the operations comply with legislative requirements.


The department works to tight timescales and often statutory deadlines and therefore experience of working within a highly pressured responsive service is a must. The Fleet & Workshop team is undergoing rapid development towards a more business driven approach and is aiming to increase the services provided. The department plays an integral part of the Council’s fleet operations ensuring legal compliance in all areas. This is an essential function to support the Council in providing the services to the residents of the city. The workshop normal operating hours are 6.30am to 7.30pm this is covered by an early start and a later start.


The successful candidate will be a qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle mechanic who has experience in all the major elements of goods vehicle repair’s including engines, transmission, braking systems and suspension including a basic knowledge of vehicle electrics.  Experience of Goods Vehicle MOT preparation is desirable. Must have the ability to work on a wide variety of vehicles and plant including HGV’s, LGV’s and Agricultural machines.
